The Golden Cracks of Julianadorp

Over the last few months, we have been working on a fascinating project as a part of the Panorama Lokaal design competition in the Netherlands. The competition has the important goal of preparing and retrofitting seven pre-existing residential areas for the future.

We teamed up with our friends FABRICations to take on the challenges of Julianadorp in Den Helder. Julianadorp is a small, scenic town at the North Sea with many qualities, but the urban structure is need of an update to meet the dynamic and unpredictable challenges of today.

Our team’s vision was developed around six strategies that emphasize critical potentials of the town’s future: relaxation, nature, sport, mobility, energy, and development. The strategies are applied to the various rest-over spaces of Julianadorp, forming the Golden Cracks, a transformative and cohesive approach that can be implemented over time, providing value for the residents in both the long and the short term!
